Born in 1980, in the land of Urban Cowboy myths and legends, Brooke grew up on classic rock and country - Stevie Nicks, The Eagles, Dan Fogelberg, The Judds, The Highwaymen, The Beatles, McCartney / Wings, and Elvis. Having fallen in love with Elvis and his '68 Comeback special at the tender age of six She found the blues. One of those earliest memories ever were two posters in a psychedelic music store when she was four larger than life of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. Later on, she added Muddy Waters and Etta James to that mix . and what you hear now is what came of that magical childhood. Not every song will sound the same, you never know what is coming next . One song may be old-time country, the next may be rock, and another blues
In her early teens, Brooke found a love of poetry and of the great poets such as Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Robert Browning, The Romantics such as Keats, Shelley, Byron and that of Yeats. and more. To this day, that influence has been strong. and looking back on that was an enchanting time. Throughout that time, she went through some health issues, and yet persevered continuing to battle them yet putting together projects she would only once dream about
Brooke also has a Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac Tribute band, "Nightbird" as well as an all-female rock cover band, "Sister Honey". Aside from working on solo original work, along with Adam Walton, they have begun an acoustic duo project called "Dr. Velvet & Blackbird". A celtic project is also in the works with Jason Phillips. A couple of other surprises are in store for the future.
