Michael Brinkworth - Please Come Back Home (Gypsy Bus Sessions) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 04, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
This was recorded and filmed in the early morning of 20th October, 2015, in Sheri´s gypsy school bus at a rest stop in New Mexico, on our way to Denver, CO from Austin, TX. Special thanks to Keli Marks for recording, filming and producing the video. We had just spent the night as cosy as we could, trying to keep warm, sleeping in the back of the bus on the bed, the floor and the benches. I woke up with a croaky morning voice perfect for a song like this, and Keli suggested we try to capture the moment before setting off on the rest of the drive north.

The song was written in one sitting back in 2012, whilst in Galicia, Spain, and forgotten about for a while until a few people told me I should start playing it more often. There is a much longer story related to when I wrote this song, and if we ever meet sometime, I can tell it to you if you like. I will just say now thanks to M. for reading that beautiful poem to your mother and for the time we shared back then. I wrote a lot of songs in that time and I always look back on it as one of the more blissful, carefree periods of my life. It's more or less about the circle of life, inspired after reading Khalil Gibran´s 'The Prophet', one of the many books that were on the shelf in that house on the Rio Minho (Thanks Luis!). It's evolved with time, and I think it will be a song I continue to enjoy playing into the future.
