A little Biography.
English:
The idea to make a band, was born from the meeting through the guitarist Lino Esposito, the keyboardist Salvio Schiano and the singer Marco Basile. It was the summer of 2002 and the three musicians had in common the desire to freely express their emotions and creativity. The band is officially shaping when, after a big number of auditions, Ottavio Liguori (drums) and Corrado Calignano (bass guitar) took part into the adventure: the team was full!
The name B.R.A.K.E. is the acronym of Between Rage And Knowledge Exist: an invitation to live the life in a fully way, balancing through instinct (here as rage) and rationality (knowledge).
The musical heart is beating Rock: the one of the origins, the melodic rock of 80s, the electrical and acid atmospheres of nu-metal!
The adventure starts with the production of the first demo Studio Session with 4 covers: it was the instrument to promote the band into the rock reality of Naples; the first official exhibition of the five boys in the city is at Xmas 2002 during the Telethon event: charity and commitment make all more special;
In 2003, with the same demo, they took part to San Marino Festival, arriving to the semifinal with the cover of My Sacrifice (Creed).
Very soon the 5 rockers started to fully express their emotions and musical suggestions realizing the second official demo, with the title BRAKE containing 6 original tracks. The presentation of the new songs took place during the closure of the event RITMI, COLORI e SUONI (Naples, 21st of September 2003): the feedback is strong and the public is who makes this event a great one!
2004 is all rock: special guest of the HEINEKEN BEER PARTY (to the U.S. Navy base of Gricignano, Caserta); MTV ON STAGE, national competition for new bands organized by MTV, during which B.R.A.K.E. classify themselves into the 20 finalists, reaching the top poll for the new born I Believe; ROYAL ROCK FESTIVAL to the Reggia di Caserta during which they impose themselves above all for the positive feedback;
2005 is a great year for the band, the participation to "EMERGENZA FESTIVAL 2005" European e North American Live Festival for up and coming Bands bring them to win all the local competitions, classifying B.R.A.K.E. as best group at a local level, and gives then access to the national final at Marcon Festival in Venice where they reached a third place on 14 bands from everywhere in Italy. They also won the prices of best singer and best guitarist of the entire event.
Moreover, in 2005, the band produced by Luciano Liguori (Bass player and singer of Giardino Dei semplici, historical group of 70s) signs for Videoradio, (www.videoradio.org) independent llabel which has under contract musicians and artists of international fame. At the October of 2005 their first album Between Rage And Knowledge Exist is published, a concentrate of hard rock with a melodic approach (that the 5 boys got us used to), soon obtaining a great consensus from specialized press.

L’idea di formare una band, nasce da un incontro tra il chitarrista Lino Esposito, il tastierista Salvio Schiano ed il cantante Marco Basile era un giorno d’estate del 2002 ad accomunare i tre giovani musicisti è il desiderio di esprimere liberamente le proprie emozioni e la propria creatività. Il gruppo prende forma, ufficialmente, soltanto quando, dopo diverse audizioni, prendono parte all’avventura Ottavio Liguori (batteria) e Corrado Calignano (basso) ora la squadra è al completo!
Il nome B.R.A.K.E. è l’acronimo di Between Rage And Knowledge Exist: un invito a vivere la vita nella sua pienezza, e in equilibrio tra l’istinto (qui intesa come rabbia rage) e la razionalità (qui intesa come conoscenza knowledge). Il cuore musicale batte Rock, delle origini passando per quello melodico degli anni ’80 per arrivare alle atmosfere più elettroniche ed acide del nu-metal!
L’avventura inizia con la produzione del primo demo “Studio Session” con 4 cover tramite il quale i ragazzi cominciano a farsi conoscere come realtà rock partenopea; la prima uscita ufficiale del quintetto a Napoli è a Natale 2002 lo scenario è quello di Telethon la beneficenza e l’impegno rendono tutto speciale; con lo stesso demo partecipano nel 2003 al San Marino Festival, arrivando sino alle semifinali con la cover di “My Sacrifice” (Creed).
Ben presto i 5 rockers cominciano ad esprimere le loro emozioni e suggestioni musicali realizzando il secondo demo ufficiale dal titolo “BRAKE” contenente 6 brani inediti. La presentazione di questi avviene alla chiusura della rassegna “RITMI, COLORI e SUONI” (21 Settembre 2003 Napoli) il riscontro è forte ed è il pubblico a rendere grande quest’evento.
Il 2004 prosegue all’insegna del rock: ospiti d’eccezione del “HEINEKEN BEER PARTY” (presso la base U.S. Navy di Gricignano, Caserta); “MTV ON STAGE”, manifestazione Nazionale per gruppi emergenti organizzata da MTV durante il quale i B.R.A.K.E. si classificano tra i primi 20 finalisti raggiungendo la quota massima di votazioni per la neonata “I Believe”; “ROYAL ROCK FESTIVAL” presso la Reggia di Caserta dove si impongono su tutti per il riscontro raggiunto;
Il 2005 è un anno molto importante per il gruppo, la partecipazione ad "EMERGENZA FESTIVAL 2005" European e North American Live Festival for up and coming Bands li porta a vincere tutte le eliminatorie Campane (classificandosi sempre primi) decretando i B.R.A.K.E. miglior gruppo della scena partenopea e dando accesso alla Finalissima svoltasi presso il Marcon Festival a Venezia dove si classificano terzi su 14 bands da tutta Italia portando a casa il premio come Miglior Cantante e Miglior Chitarrista di tutta la manifestazione.
Nel 2005, e qui siamo ai giorni nostri, la band prodotta da Luciano Liguori (Bassista cantante del Giardino Dei semplici, gruppo storico degl’anni 70) firma per la Videoradio, (www.videoradio.org) etichetta indipendente che annovera nel suo catalogo musicisti e artisti di fama Internazionale.
Nell’ottobre 2005 il loro disco d’esordio “Between Rage And Knowledge Exist” viene pubblicato, un concentrato di rock potente e diretto coadiuvato da un approccio melodico al quale il quintetto ci ha oramai abituati, riscuotendo da subito ottimi consensi dalla stampa specializzata.
Nel 2008 sono impegnati nella stesura del nuovo disco ed aprono il live al Palapartenope (NA) di Stef Burns (chitarrista di Vasco Rossi) “World Universe Infinity tour 2008” concludendo il concerto con una jam-session finale con lo stesso Burns che li chiama sul palco a performare con lui.
