Liner notes Blue of MIne

Blue of mine was conceived in the summer of 2007, while I was on a beach of Calabria and gazed at one of the most beautiful phenomena nature can provide, and one that has always stirred up a deep emotion inside me: the horizon. That bewitching connection between sky and sea, that apparent line where two magic entities blend together, so utterly different and yet so congenial, in a fluent and natural way.

This record represents indeed the result and blending of all the musical experiences I have lived so far, as well as the most important events in my life and career.

I was urged by a deep need to mix the different musical traditions I love - such as jazz, classical music, afro, latin and tango -- hoping to reach out all those souls who can let the stream of sound flow into themselves without any filters or mental barriers, all the people able to live music to the full, as naturally as a breath or as a heart-beat.

I have wanted to experience and share this creation of mine with musicians who have been playing with me for a long time and who always manage to impress me with their talent, remarkable sensitiveness and, last but not least, their rare generosity - an essential requirement when trying to undertake new musical experiences and one that prevents you from resting on your laurels.

I do believe and hope we realized an open exchange, avoiding forced sounds or stylistic rules, around the more and more diversified reality of contemporary jazz. In this exchange, I hope, everyone of us has found a space of his own to exalt his own distinctive features, but always with the aim to serve our only Mistress, Music.
