Released in February 1964, this was Connie’s third seasonal offering on 45; following “Baby’s First Christmas” in 1961 and “I’m Gonna Be Warm This Winter” the following year. Always availing herself of material from the very best songwriters, Connie here picks a song from Ben Raleigh and John Gluck. The latter co-wrote “Mecca” for Gene Pitney and “It’s My Party” for Lesley Gore, while Ben Raleigh penned “Tell Laura I Love Her” (with Jeff Barry) for Ray Peterson and the sublime “That’s How Heartaches Are Made” (with Bob Halley) for Baby Washington.
“Blue Winter” charted at #24 for Connie. The song was also recorded as “Blue Summer” by both George Chakiris and Anita Bryant.
