Bagpipe Assembly - Part 1 (acetyl pipes, bag and blowpipe) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 03, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
Welcome to my workshop....er .... my kitchen. In this series of clips I will demonstrate how I assemble a set of pipes; attaching the five stocks into the bag, compressing waxed hemp on a joint etc.
The pipes (sticks and stocks) here are manufactured by McCallum Bagpipes, and are made of Acetyl, a tough, smooth plastic that I feel gives as good a tone as African Blackwood, and has the added advantage that it will not crack, warp or shrink.
The blowpipe is made of a similar material, by Universal Blowpipes, which has a wide internal bore, making it easier to blow, and a ball-and-socket joint and tensioner which allows for fine angle adjustment.
The pipe bag is the Shepherd Hide Regulator Bag, with a tough zip, and an outer suede bag, which gives it a more substantial feel, like a sheepskin bag.
