1960 Fender Precision Bass - THE GEORGE GRUHN ® GUITAR SHOW - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 24, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
Gruhn Season 3 Continues! In this brand new "Thanksgiving 2016" episode, George describes a beautiful "Golden Age" vintage instrument specimen (but, fairly "beat-up") in a 1960 Fender Precision Bass (the iconic "P-Bass").

As George states, during the episode, it was in 1959 that Fender decided to add a rosewood fingerboard to the P-Bass. With this additional improvement, on top of several others previously made since its' introduction, George states his feeling that the late 1959-1962 Precision Basses are the "Golden Age" period for these specific models - in their development history as instruments. He also describes the impact of "wear" on "relic" instruments ("new" instruments meant to look "used) vs truly "used" instruments, which are vintage and collectible. This bass model is truly one of the most iconic instruments, ever produced, and was the very first commercially successful "electrified bass" - as George also describes the history of, with respect to Leo Fender & AudioVox, in this particular episode.

Enjoy, Happy Thanksgiving 2016 to All & Stay Tuned for Many More New Gruhn Episodes to come!
