the houses

your skin and your dress are sprinkled with dust
in the corner you caught on a nail

the ghost from the past
will come back to us now in the night with the houses alive
and they paint themselves white with shadows of red
the world in your hand from the grave to the warmth of a hospital bed
and back to your feet
how tender we beat
