Benjamin Gonzalez Jr., better known to the world as Ben’Hot, is as instrumental as any musical artist, signed or unsigned, you are going to come across. Ben’Hot, a Bronx native, Fitchburg, MA raised, was conceived in the most prolific of the 5 Burroughs, as far as Hip-Hop is concerned, in conjunction with being born into a family where the influence and environment of music and Latin culture was impossible to ignore. Ben’Hot credits all of his musical talents, which include singing, dancing and songwriting, to his upbringing, specifically with his father. His father, Benjamin Gonzalez Sr., was a member of the Spanish band called “Los Pleneros del Coco”. At the age of 3, Ben’Hot was exposed to various amounts of dance styles in the Latin Culture, which incorporated Salsa, Merengue, and Plena, for about 7 years with the musical band. With all of the early professional experience he took in with his father’s band, ironically, improvisation (freestyling) was the first skill Ben’Hot perfected amongst his talents. His lyrics, described by his first Hip-Hop group, 5 West Clique (5WC), were considered aggressive, yet smooth and precise. It was that skill, along with singing, he took to college in New Hampshire which got him recognized widely on campus and eventually, where he would meet up with another hip-hop aspiring artist, J-Twice. Together, they created the dynamic unsigned Hip-Hop and R&B group, “Vizion”. With “Vizion” being a substantial priority, you can hear most of Ben’Hot’s musical work with them. Songs such as, “The Way She Moves” and “Spanglish” has gotten Ben’Hot standing ovations and encore requests due to his radiant choreography and sensual voice over tones. He has also been recognized on popular internet radio shows such as SRP Radio and has been called to sing on the introduction piece for the radio show, “Flava of the 90’s”, which airs on radio waves (88.3 fm) in Albany, NY on Saturday nights @ 10pm.
