At the age of 16, he began studying music formally at the Conservatoire de Musique de Luxembourg, followed by the universities of Cologne, Amsterdam, Berlin and Boston. Besides being a busy guitar player, he earned a degree in church music and can also be heard playing organ all over Berlin.

He is constantly performing as a sideman of various groups including many of Europe's finest musicians. His interest and proficiency in a variety of musical styles besides jazz, acoustic fingerstyle guitar, classical-and rock/pop music makes him one of the most versatile and original musicians in Germany. Benedikt has won numerous awards and scholarships including from the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in Bonn, the Oskar Ritter-Foundation, Hamburg and the Stephen D. Holland Award at Berklee College, Boston. He also teaches guitar at the University of Potsdam."
