DESCRIPTION:
Yo!! What's up, dudes?!? This is the first in a series of videos on music theory. This starts, as one would expect, at the very beginning. This video shows the notes on the piano and guitar and the corresponding note names. We also learn about the smallest interval in music (the half step), and that most notes are separated by two half steps (aka, a whole step). We look at how the notes are spread on the keyboard and the guitar and we learn that there is one place to place "middle C" on a keyboard, but five (5!) places to play that same note on guitar. Next up, we'll take a look at the staff, the common clefs, and how we write these notes down on paper (or computer, as the case may be).
Enjoy!
