Following on from the 2014 ‘Pagans’ EP (https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/pagans-ep/id945461803), and ‘Still Sitting Here’ with Fekky, Dizzee Rascal unveils Nutcrackerz featuring Giggs.

‘Nutcrackerz’ (produced by Heavytrackerz) is set for an April 18th release, under the rapper’s own imprint; Dirtee Stank Recordings. The official video has premiered exclusively via The Fader.

‘Nutcrackerz’ channels the Russian composer,Tchaikovsky, and creates a deliciously unusual juxtaposition between Grime and classical melody. Dizzee turns up the heat with a verse for verse workout with Giggs.

The official video sees Dizzee and Giggs on location in London. Whilst Giggs takes us to Peckham, Dizzee takes us back to Bow E3 as he declares: “Back in the day before bloggers and tweeters, before they knew i was a genius.” Dizzee and Giggs rap candidly and cheekily about the past.

After winning the Mercury Music Prize in 2003 for his debut album ‘Boy In Da Corner’, and producing his debut single ‘I Luv You’ in 2002, Dizzee went on to start his own label, Dirtee Stank Recordings, to achieve 5 number one hits, win an NME and a Brit Award, and release music collaborating with the likes of Calvin Harris, Robbie Williams, Arman Van Helden, DJ Fresh, Jessie J, A Trak and many more.

Nutcrackerz support from 1Xtra, Radio 1, Reprezent Radio, Unity Radio, Capital Xtra, Bang Radio, Mistajam, Zane Lowe, Target, Charlie Sloth, Phil Taggart, Huw Stephens, Twin B, Trevor Nelson, Tim Westwood, Logan, Manny Norte, Firin Squad, BBC Asian Network, Kemet FM, Radio Cardiff, Takeover Radio, TSOL Radio, Voice FM, Westside 89.6FM

Quote from Dizzee Rascal about the track;

"I had been talking and swapping beats with Giggs for just under a year. Then recently, D Double E (legendary MC signed to my label Dirtee Stank Recordings and half of the Newham Generals) took me to the Heavytrackerz studio, I grabbed the beat and linked Giggs, who was feeling it. We had been catching a vibe from talking about what we were both up to around 2002 - we knew some of the same people, the spots we used to hangout/perform at....that became the theme for writing. A lot has changed in London since then too, the gentrification has taken over a lot of the places we grew up in and it wont ever be the same again, this track is important as it references a special time for me and the scene. I wanted the video to reflect how much it's changed and also how much we have both grown as artists and men. This is dedicated to everyone who was around that time/era"
