Barbara Furtuna with L'Arpeggiata - Lamentu Di Ghjesu (sopra la Follia) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 27, 2017
DESCRIPTION:
"Lamentu di Ghjesu" is based upon an ancient Corsican tradition of performing the Passion story during the procession of Good Friday: Musically it is based on La Folia theme, which is probably the oldest known bass ostinato ground (a harmony line played repeatedly while the player/singer improvises a melody upon it). Performed by Corsican vocal quartet "Barbara Furtuna" (Jean-Pierre Marchetti, André Dominici, Jean-Philippe Guissani and Maxime Merlandi) and "L'Arpeggiata" - a European early music group led by Christina Pluhar, and founded by her in 2000. From the album "L'Arpeggiata / Christina Pluhar ‎– Via Crucis" (2010).
