In the spring of 2004, Ryan McDermott, Chris Magnuson, Ned Cameron, Austin Brown, and Kolby Dauler met for a jam session. The five barely knew each other, so the vibe in the room more was more than a bit awkward. Rushing to get equipment set-up, Ryan slipped and fell on his ass. Everyone burst into laughter and it was the start of something beautiful. backlight's debut album, "green and blue", released in August of 2006, showcases the same spark present at that first jam session, but with a refined cohesiveness developed over two years. The 18 tracks on the CD ring with harmony, musiciality, and songwriting well beyond the members' years. Soon after "green and blue" was released, however, backlight was claimed by the college monster, and has lay dormant since.
