Yes Sir, That's My Baby (W.Donaldson) -- The Denza Dance Band (Ace Brigode & His 14 Virginians), Columbia 1925

NOTE: Throughout the history of American dance hits of the jazz age, this crazy foxtrot by Walter Donaldson became an absolute icon of the Roaring Twenties. Only a handful of other hits - such as Dinah, Sweet Georgia Brown or The Original Charleston - can match the temperature and crazy musical line with this king of the American and European dance floors of the mid-1920s. What's more, the perfect arrangement and instrumentation by Ace Brigode make this recording a true dance diamond! Few will be at that time as wittily arranged and truly HAPPY performances -- which, maintaining the high artistic standards, did in the same time avoid any sort of those foolish musical capers - so frequent then, in hot-dance arrangements. In my slide show I did my best to match the mastery of this rendition. The most helpful were for me the similarily crazy drawings from the Parisian illustrated press of the period. For sure, for American audience of the 1920s many of them would have been qualified to as "risque" :-))) Have fun!
