There is something magical about Reggae Music,it magnetizes and captures listeners with it's melodic interplay of drum and base it's unique syncopation and timing that results from roots buried deep in the African continent.

The timeless use of the drum to communicate joy and sadness, war and peace, love and hate, celebration and mourning is etched deep in the unconscious recesses of the African psyche. Whoever opens themselves to the drum and bass will be enthralled and captivated by it's magic. If you listen long enough to the rhythms of reggae, You will be reggaesized.

The beautiful reggae star from Yokosuka, Japan. Aya Higuma known simply as Aya is totally reggaesized. Until she was exposed to reggae, Aya wanted to put her musical talent to performing hip-hop and R&B. But Jah would have it his way. Reggaesize them Jah! Reggaesize them!

And so it is, that a beautiful young Japanese woman from the city of Yokosuka traveled to America to pursue her dream of becoming a hip hop and R&B singer. This was after spending time with a vocal teacher and then attending Senzoku Gakuen University majoring in singing.

While performing in musicals and Live concerts in Yokohama and Tokyo, Aya Higuma made several trips to America to study Jazz and R&B. Her first single " I miss you"went on sale in 2001 on an underground music download website. It was in May 2002 when Ayah moved to New York that she embarked on a full time career as a singer.

In 2005 Ayah met Mr Williams, publisher of WhereItzAt magazine and was persuaded to explore the reggae music genre. It took some persuation. Aya was set on a Hip Hop, R&B career but started to sing and chant reggae music anyway. The music moved Ayah to reharse songs like "Sukiyaki" " Back to Life"&"keep on moving". All to reggae arrangements under the musical direction of Mike and Bouncer from the Rhythm Masters Band.
This early influence with a solid reggae band gave Ayah the confidence she needed to performe regggae music.
Her major debut was made opening for the Messenger Luciano at Carib Night Club in New Rochelle, New York on July 15th,2005.
This writer has been and enjoyed many shows but that show stands out as one of the most inspirational and entertaining shows I have experienced.
Aya Higuma making her first public appearance brought the fans to their feet.
The rest of the evening was magical.
Ayah's performance garnered her a place on the biggest outdoor reggae show on the East coast Irie jamboree, 2005. Before that however Ayah had to fulfill a contract to headline the Summer Reggae Festival in union square Park, New York City on August 28th, 2005. Backed by the Rhythm Master Band Ayah entertained the appreciative park crowd with her repertorie of Reggae and dancehall.
This young Japanese sensation is totally committed to scaling the heights of the Reggae Mountain. She is under the Management of East West Enterprises a Jamaican / Japanese collaboration formed to exchange the music of Japan and Jamaica. Her possibility will never stop.
