DESCRIPTION:
A short clip of the Austin "Samba School" (equivalent to Rio's Carnaval group, "Escola de Samba") from Carnaval Brasileiro Austin, 2012 (Feb 4). This group consists entirely of volunteer drummers and dancers who LABOR all year long to perfect their Carnaval show. Their theme (enredo) for 2012 was "The Wizard of Oz", expressed by their costumes. Though this clip does not demonstrate it, much of their drum routine for 2012 was borrowed from one of Rio's oldest and most venerated Escolas, GRES Portela...13 members of which played at Carnaval Austin in the year 2000.
