A lot of people describe this song as sounding like an "ancient waltz" or "Native-American music". My input on this is that it is waltz-like because the song is in 3/4 time, but due to the fact most of the song is in Pentatonic scale (a musical scale that's the basis of a lot of Oriental music), I must contest these particular claims of cultural affinity. I can understand the idea of it sounding "Native-American" though, since Xatu is the one who awaits at the top of Great Canyon.
