Sven-Åke Johansson, August Rosenbaum & Lars Greve - Video
PUBLISHED:  Aug 06, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Sven-Åke Johansson was one of the main forgers of the European free jazz in the 1960s and he has ever since been working at the fringes of experimental music. His alternative approach to the drum kit has always been the centre of Johansson’s art, but his talent also spreads to spoken word and visual arts. August Rosenbaum and Lars Greve are both deeply involved in Danish experimental jazz. The three of them have performed and recorded music on and off since 2012 and we caught them before an artist talk at Lydens Hus in Copenhagen. Their music is first and foremost free avant-garde music that has been stripped down to being almost naked and Johansson points out their music is based on silence, not sound.
