³ Ϋ presents a variety of styles on The Prequel.
³ Ϋ Billed as a "Collection of songs... collected
³ Ϋ solely for the purpose of providing a glimpse of
³ Ϋ the past to foreshadow the future," much of the
³ Ϋ album's material was previously released. Still,
³ Ϋ to fans unfamiliar with the Atoms Fam, The Prequel
³ Ϋ provides an excellent opportunity to get
³ Ϋ acquainted with them.
³ Ϋ The best song for introducing new listeners to the
³ Ϋ Atoms Fam is undoubtedly "Atoms All-Stars." After
³ Ϋ a lead-off verse from non-affiliate, Kasm, each
³ Ϋ rhyming member of the Fam takes the mic. Alaska
³ Ϋ exhibits solid breath control and on-point
³ Ϋ lyricism, though his voice and mic presence leave
³ Ϋ a lot to be desired; Cryptic One is a stronger
³ Ϋ emcee in all regards; WindNBreeze is better yet;
³ Ϋ and Vastaire is best of all. Though a remarkable
³ Ϋ emcee in his own right, Vordul's performance on
³ Ϋ this song is disjointed and off-beat, with obvious
³ Ϋ studio punch-ins marring his verse. Aside from
³ Ϋ this anomaly, "Atoms All-Stars" is a very accurate
³ Ϋ representation of each emcee's skill.
