Location:

Artist / Band / Musician
Genre:

Formed in early 2006 and after numerous lineup changes this band finally has the fit they've been looking for. A Rock and Roll band that wears their hearts on their sleeves and leaves their souls on the stage. A naughty mix of Rock, Punk, Metal and a bit of Soul the Atomic Drops have been playing Pittsburgh and any and every dive bar up and down the east coast. A five peice consisting of members who have playing the Pgh music scene in various bands for the last 6 years. This band grows on ya.not like mold but a fine handsome mustache!! The members are: Luke Mitchell, lead guitar and resident whiskey aficionado. Mike Lux, bass and the anchor of the group. Phil Irvin, percussion and enforcer. Scotty Terz, vox and whatever in the hell he thinks he can do. There's a lot more, but instead of reading come out to a show and see what these dudes are all about.

Here's some other crap they thought was cool.

"TESTIFY!! The truth has already been amplified a thousand fold but apparently you haven't been listening.perhaps it just ain't loud enough. Here to rectify the situation is a sum of panic stricken noise junkies straight from the heart of the cityThis rude, rowdy and raucous rock n' roll racket has the pedal to the metal screech n' burn panic of a '75 lime green muscle car shoved thru a wall o' fuzz and an AMPED up volume that would sterilize Ted Nugent himself." Pope Benedict XVI 2007

FROM THE PITTSBURGH POST GAZETTE:

"The 12-song CD captures "Pittsburgh's only true Rock and Roll Band," as the Drops claim to be, in the vein of AC/DC and Thin Lizzy. It's loud, brash and never stops rocking."

From BurgSounds, Nov 13th Show review:

".They want the action and adrenaline and the abuse. It's the thrill that keeps Hardcore Charlie and a good number of real fans coming back to the blast zone again and again. The show turns out to be the right kind of disaster. "

The Atomic Drops release a whiskey-soaked scorcher

By Manny Theiner

The Atomic Drops

(self-released)

"The musical approach of the Atomic Drops isn't particularly unusual. But if you're looking for some good-time, no-nonsense rock 'n' roll with easily digestible lyrics ("just outside of New York City, where's the music's rockin' and the girls are pretty"), the Drops'll be as smooth to swallow as the strong drink they praise.

The straight-ahead quintet mixes bluesy, hook-laden classic rock (take a clue from the track title "Thin Dizzy," with its radio-ready guitar solo) and brawling backroom punk. It sounds as if Motörhead and Southside Johnny warmed the bar stool right next to the Dictators and any number of West Coast garage bands such as the Supersuckers. In Pittsburgh, the Drops' closest sonic allies might be The Cheats, but without any glam touches.

The fact that singer Scott Terz doesn't need to play an instrument probably helps him focus his whiskey-soaked, slicked-back vocal attack, like he just stepped out of a souped-up Cadillac. And of course, for authenticity, there's a whole suite of tunes about living the celebrated lifestyle ("She's So Coke," "Dead Broke" and the glass-raising anthem "I Might Be Drunk").

After a few spins, the songs might start to run into each other, but the Drops seem to address their topics with particular abandon. I don't know whether playing this CD in the background will numb the pain while you get a tattoo on East Carson Street, but if you bump this in your hotrod, you'll feel like you can drive all night on the open road."
