Here is another version of Turnip Greens this time played on the 1852 Ashborn replica made by David Oakes here in Connecticut .. The text of this song comes from a recording of Reba Dearmore, of Mountain Home, Arkansas on January 7, 1969 . The words liken back to earlier afro folk songs and may go back to the Minstrel period and because of this I wanted to play with some of those earlier stark rhythms ..The Ashborn is a perfect choice for this song because of this .
