Progopolis: A progressive rock music podcast - Video
PUBLISHED:  Aug 08, 2008
DESCRIPTION:
Progopolis is a progressive rock podcast that offers a zany, somewhat schizophrenic listening experience. Hosted by Vince Font and his irresistible sidekick/ball and chain Daisy Jane, the "Dynamic Duo From Witness Relocation Central" have been likened by listeners to a contemporary Burns and Allen, with better musical taste. Show playlists have been known to veer from the classic prog vein into what can best be described as "progressive non-prog" including the far reaching musical genres of post rock, ambient, electronica, IDM and experimental. A new staple of the bi-weekly prog podcast, "The Gravy Train" is an hour-long feature celebrating the music of Pink Floyd and showcasing the various side projects of its members Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Syd Barrett, Richard Wright and Nick Mason. In addition to playing progressive rock favorites like Marillion, iQ, Genesis and Porcupine Tree, show hosts Vince and Daisy are always on the lookout for great undiscovered artists. They take prideful responsibility for having given widespread exposure to independent acts like Donny Who Loved Bowling, American Hollow, Variant, Simeon Harris and Matt Stevens. Submissions by independent artists are always welcome. Progopolis (which is sometimes spelled Prog'opolis) airs live every other Saturday from 7-10pm Pacific on the Dividing Line Broadcast Network, a progressive rock internet radio station headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Podcasts of past shows are available for a limited time following each live broadcast, with a library that offers a frequently changing archive of four shows at a time.
