DESCRIPTION:
Here's a poem/eulogy/love note I wrote about a now-closed cafe called Cool Beanz in St. James on Long Island. Through the several open mics a week that I'd attend, I met many friends, had lots of snacks and honed my craft. It was a creative and social sanctuary where I discovered who I was a person, writer, performer and artist. When the cafe closed, people acted as if a scene had died, and in writing and performing this piece, it was both a tribute eulogy and my reminder to people that we could grow with what we learned here and recreate it wherever we wanted.

The cafe closed for financial reasons, like so many do with the competition of corporate giants like dunkin donuts or 711 or starbucks, ect. This also serves as a reminder to people to support their local cafe's and businesses, and not to take them for granted.
