DESCRIPTION:
Recorded live to Tascam 238 cassette (!!) 8 track, acoustic bass thru preamp, acoustic guitar, electric guitar w/wah,djembe, guiro, and drum loops punched in and out. 6 tracks then routed through Allen & Heath board in real time, and dubmixed with various delays,etc. (Line 6 Echo Pro, Yamaha Rev500, Kurzweil Rumour, Electrix EQ Killer)
and videoed in realtime. HUGE FUN!!! The 238 is much more hi-fi than one would think....squeezing 8 tracks onto a cassette -- whaa?? Oh..bussed 2 track mix through ART Pro VLA and then onto to Adobe Audition recorded 32 bit. Don't get the wrong idea with my tags -- I in NO way would compare myself with THE GREAT Lee Perry or King Tubby....I might say I am inspired by the dub style..and what I did here is loosely an homage to that, rough as it is, but those guys........are and were genuises....no question. Super Ape? ....please......we're not worthy - ha. Incredible. Pardon my sloppo playing....1'st takes were the order of the day -- the focus was on the mixing effort. Oh, and the singing? .......I'm sorry. : ) Oh, by the way....excuse the middle segment -- strictly for my fellow gear junkies.
