DESCRIPTION:
Edison two minute Cylinder Boxes have a unique history of there own which closely follows the many changes and improvements in Edison's Cylinder Mfg. from the earliest Brown Wax Cylinders up to the mass produced and much improved Gold Moulded Process. Here Victrolaman displays the earliest Labeled Cylinder Box from 1899 and several others and also shows how the lining of the box changed finally to the much improved felt lined box in 1905 (the most common and best known of all the Edison Cylinder Boxes). The Record is from 1906 "Is Everybody Happy Medley" played by the Edison Military Band.Please note, in my explanation about the early history of the cylinder boxes, I have restricted my comments to two minute records, and have purposely not touched on 4 minute Amberols, and 4 minute Blue Amberols.
