He grew up in LA and is the son of Bandleader Gerald Wilson, so he has been around jazz his whole life .. His latest record is 2016’s Frogtown and it’s another first in a career of firsts .. it’s his debut as a singer .. Always swayed by Duke Ellington, Gil Evans, Wes Montgomery, Ry Cooder, and T-Bone Walker – His first album in 1997 had a nine-piece “little big band” and got a Grammy nomination for Best Large Ensemble Jazz Recording – Since his father’s passing, he became the maestro of his ensamble in 2014 keeping the jazz alive and he’s branched out beyond jazz playing with the likes of Paul McCartney, Willie Nelson, Leon Russell, Aaron Neville, and Barbra Streisand – This is one deep, interesting and story rich cat ..
