HDTV for Free Without Buying an Antenna? - Video

DESCRIPTION:
Many years ago people inserted a coat hanger into the TV's VHF/UHF connector and got a few local stations.

This video will demonstrate how you can hook up a TV cable to your window frame and using the metal frame as an antenna to get local HD stations. There are videos for low-profile indoor antennas of different brands that are often unnoticeable compared to an old-fashioned outdoor Yagi antenna including: Mohu Leaf, WallTenna, Terk FDTV2A, Philips SDV3132/27 disk, etc. when mounted on a wall.

Antenna elements that are encased in plastic especially indoor ones tend to get inconsistent results. A few years ago a friend did something similar and got a clear signal on VHF-Ch. 7. Paying a few dollars for a matching transformer and a piece of tape can give you better results than most indoor antennas although still not comparable to a high-gain outdoor antenna.
