Andy Mitchell - Knock On Wood (Cover) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 17, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Knock On Wood (Cover) - Sung live to camera in one take, and mixed afterwards in Pro Tools.

I recorded/created the backing tracks in Pro tools, using Addictive Drums, and Amplesound ABP virtual bass guitar.

Guitar was plugged into the clean channel of a beaten-up old 2 channel 50 watt JCM800 combo from the early eighties. It has definitely seen better days! Overdrive was a ZVEX Super-Duper 2 -in-1 booster into a Digitech Bad Monkey.

Mics were an SM57 slightly off the dust cap, and a Royer R-101 pointed directly at the middle of the speaker right on the dust cap. Those old G12-75T speakers have definitely mellowed over time... No sizzle shizzle! I also blended in some of the room sound captured via the camera mic.

Guitar pickups are a PAF style Humbucker (Humdinger) in the bridge and a higher output Strat single coil in the neck (Full Monty), made by Matt Gleeson of Monty's Guitars www.montysguitars.com. Check them out! Very nice.

PS let me be the first to notice the backdrop snafu on the rhythm guitar takes, and the masking tape I left on the mic cable... oops.
