The Andy Gibson Project - Vine 2013 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Aug 09, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Vine, by The Andy Gibson Project. Recorded live in Wellington, New Zealand, Aug 9 2013. 'Vine' is from my 1999 EP 'The Current Fixture'. The song came out of a dream I had, and is about becoming independent from those that shelter you, and taking risks. Lyrics below...

The original EP, plus the audio from this live version are available at: http://andygibson.bandcamp.com/album/the-current-fixture

Lyrics:

It looks like a rainbow, it looks like a vine
Bends over the river, twists on the inside
I started to climb into it like a visionary
Voice told me to wait a minute, pulled me out so I could see

That it is a long way to the other side
And there is no way out once you are inside
And as you climb it slowly turns you round
You will land with your head on the ground

I visualised entrapment in the peak
Arms gripping the rungs, hanging by my feet
I wondered if I could have made it, if I could have made it through
If I hadn't listened, if i had ignored you

But it is a long way...

I'll never know if you saved my life or kept me from growing
But if you did, then I apologise, for I'll never forgive you

You know it was my choice to take the risk and climb
But when I heard your voice it overshadowed mine
And now the chance is gone, the other side so far away
The river still goes on, and I will always hear you say

That it is a long way...

Story of this song in 2013:

Avenged Sevenfold is California-based metal band, and they've had Vine streaming on their website for the last month or so, at http://www.avengedsevenfold.com/tholomew/

Somebody posted a video of the song on YouTube speculating that it might be a new Avenged Sevenfold song - which sparked a lot of debate amongst the fans , who eventually discovered it was little old me!

Under very weird circumstances, I'm so happy my song has reached such a big audience!
