True artistry evolves. It is not immobile, but ever-moving; ever-changing. And so from home-grown acoustic roots to the rugged and wily terrain of progressive rock, Andy Osenga transforms with seamless precision… and then some. Thought-provoking lyrics backed by some serious guitar riffs, his new sound pulls inspiration from the likes of John Mayer, Paul Simon and Crowded House. Andy’s songs represent who he has become as an artist – a soulful but personable musician who turns life into song with a seemingly effortless strum of his guitar. “We all grow and change,” says Andy. “And hopefully we grow and change out of who we think we’re supposed to be into who we really are. I think my music is following my own journey in that process.” Andy brings to his anthem-esque songs a deep-rooted message about life and love; a message that is backed by a charged-up live performance with playful rock rhythms and gritty vocals. The result of this evolution is a new sound that is a far cry from the melancholy singer/songwriter tunes for which he is best-known. Andy comes through once again with music that you don’t just hear, you experience.

With an already solid track record having been involved in two bands since high school, The Normals (Forefront Records) and most recently Caedmon’s Call (INO Records), Andy has begun work on his third solo project. His passion for sound is heard in the natural, fluid melodies that sound as though they’ve always been there. When Andy writes, he simply follows the muse he says, letting the sounds show him the way. “I’m learning that, in this process, what I want to happen in a tune is very rarely the thing that needs to happen. Sometimes it’s immediate, sometimes you have to exhaust every option, but at some point the elusive thing shows up,” he says. And as he continues to find his voice as an artist, Andy has learned how to pour his thoughts and emotions into the way he plays his guitar; exploring new ground with song-writing that goes beyond the lyrics into the very heart of the listener. Those emotions reveal themselves in melodies brimming with the hope and energy of this burgeoning guitar hero. Change in life is surely inevitable - but Andy is proving that change isn’t always a bad thing… in fact, it’s very good.
