QMF 2015 - Cooper & Hammond: Classics, Gypsy and Jazz Flying Tour, Palm Island - Video

In 2015, violinist (and pilot), Ian Cooper and pianist, Ambre Hammond flew across North Queensland and Cape York, fulfilling Queensland Music Festival’s (QMF) pledge to provide regional and remote communities with access to world-class talent. The Flying Tour connected with each community through performances and workshops.

In a light aircraft, the duo flew to Weipa, Aurukun and Hope Vale to deliver educational workshops. They continued their journey on to Atherton, Innisfail, Charters Towers, Gladstone, and for the very first time for QMF, Burketown and Palm Island.

This project has received financial assistance from the Queensland Government through: Arts Queensland’s Playing Queensland Fund; and the Regional Arts Development Fund, a partnership between the Queensland Government and the Tablelands Regional Council, Cassowary Coast Regional Council, Charters Towers Regional Council and Gladstone Regional Council to support local arts and culture.
