The Double Naught Spys "Tryin' My Best" (alternate take) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 19, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
New Haven, Connecticut's defiant garage rock & roll misanthropes finally got their moxie together to record in a real working recording studio (RIP Coyote Studio in Brooklyn, NY). It was our second trip, as our first attempt occurred in 1988 during the infamous Crypt Records sponsored event the Bad Musik Seminar - I'll post some of those tunes soon.

In February, 1992, the four of us (the survivors) bought lots of beer and headed for Brooklyn to record a bunch of songs to shop around for a indie record deal. Five of the songs from that session ended up on our LP, "Goin' Nowhere" issued by the fine fellows at Rockadelic Records, which came out in September of 1992.

"Tryin My Best" was one of the songs from the Feb. session, but we felt the vocal drop outs were a bit too much upon playback. We recorded another version of the song during our July revisit to Coyote to record more songs, and that was the version which we all selected for inclusion on our LP. I prefer this alternate version in retrospect 21 years later, as itpacks more of a raw sonic whallop. If you don't dig the tune, blame me, I wrote it!

Bill Tobleman - vocals, rhythm guitar
Danny Ly - bass guitar
Mike Markesich - vocals, lead guitar
Dave Tomany - drums
