Since their humble beginnings on high school and small town stages, they have now exploded into Ontario's most respected venues. And, with the completion of their debut album at hand (produced by THE BEAUTIES' DEREK DOWNHAM, and featuring Canadian legend RON SEXSMITH on vocals and guitar), THE ALLENS have the makings of a ROOTS/ROCK outfit that Canada can be proud of.
The rich vocal duets of Mack Edwards & Mary Kate Smith bring a fresh, energetic take on the classic Johnny & June Cash formula. Their chemistry is infectious, as they effortlessly straddle between Folk/Rock anthems and lilting, Country-soaked melodies. Mack's tasteful use of classic country/rockabilly guitar chops, fused with modern effects, make this a sound truly their own.
These voices are cradled by the dynamic yet powerful rhythm section of Brent Hebert (drums) and Michael Middleton (bass). Acoustic/electric guitarist "Deputy" Mark Kulmala takes the energy up another notch with his locomotive-charged rhythm playing, and frenetic stage presence.
Having gained the support and praise from peers and audiences alike, THE ALLENS are set to introduce themselves to the rest of Canada, and beyond. Be prepared to dance along.
