Shot at Smalls in New York City, Al McLean and Azar Lawrence are joined by alto saxophonist Gerald Hayes for a beautiful interpretation of the standard Body & Soul. Hays shows his deep traditional roots here, and the group rises with taste and drama as the song unfolds.

Part of a trilogy of films, this film was sponsored by ARC Saxophones. Prior to this recording session, Al McLean traveled to New York to present Hayes and Lawrence with a pair of new instruments co-designed by the young saxophonist, and more simply, to make some music with his mentors.

All three saxophonists are playing on their own ARC brand saxophones, instruments that were co-designed by McLean. Among the finest new saxes on the market, ARC horns feature a number of innovations; from unique and tonally novel materials, to customer protection registration.
