Cantante carismatica e versatile, dotata di una voce sensuale e vellutata, perfettamente a suo agio davanti al pubblico e abituata ai palcoscenici, che calca oramai da anni, Alexia Gardner torna di diritto a JazzAscona dopo il trionfo dell'anno scorso e la meritata vittoria allo Swiss Jazz Award 2011, conquistata assieme all'OffBeat Trio. Una formazione di grande qualità con il quale la cantante inglese di origini giamaicane - che risiede dal 2006 in Svizzera - collabora da tempo e con il quale ha inciso nel 2009 Chasing Hope , un primo album accolto con favore dal pubblico e dalla critica. Da segnalare che al trio si aggiunge quest'anno anche il trombettista Claudio Bergamin e che la Gardner ha pubblicato nel 2011 l'album live A Little Closer.

A charismatic and versatile singer with a sensual and velvety voice, always at ease in front of her audience, Alexia Gardner returns to JazzAscona as the winner of last year's Swiss Jazz Award, deservedly won together with the OffBeat Trio. The English singer with Jamaican roots, a Swiss resident since 2006, and the high-quality band have been performing together for a while and in 2009 they recorded Chasing Hope, a debut album positively received by both audience and critics. Note that this year the trio is joined by trumpeter Claudio Bergamin and that in 2011 Alexia Gardner released the live album A Little Closer.
