Felipe Pérez Santiago’s CampoSanto was commissioned as part of the Kronos: Under 30 Project/#2 for the Kronos Quartet by Stanford Lively Arts/Stanford University through a generous gift from Mrs. Ralph I. Dorfman, the National Endowment for the Arts, the San Francisco Foundation, and the Board of Directors of the Kronos Performing Arts Association on the occasion of Kronos' 30th anniversary.

The Kronos: Under 30 Project is a commissioning and mentoring program for young composers under the age of 30. Launched in 2003, the Under 30 Project is designed to help nurture the careers of emerging artists, while enabling Kronos to forge stronger connections with the next creative generation. Since its inception, five composers from three countries – Alexandra du Bois (USA), Felipe Pérez Santiago (Mexico), Dan Visconti (USA), Aviya Kopelman (Israel), and Mary Kouyoumdjian (USA) – were commissioned. These new works have been championed by Kronos in major venues all over the world and four have been recorded.
