Tika & The Dissidents Live in Salihara 2010 - Venus Envy - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 26, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
Singer-songwriter Kartika Jahja released her first solo album, Frozen Love Songs (2005) using the name TIKA under independent label Aksara Records.

The album received numerous praises due to its unorthodox approach in a time when most female singers chose the path of easy listening pop, and the independent scene was dominated by bands. Frozen Love Songs' nuance was a mix of blues, jazz and a thick layer of dark tinged trip hop.

In 2009, another album titled Headless Songstress was released. Using the name Tika & The Dissidents, Headless Songstress was even more well received and critically acclaimed, nationally as well as internationally.

The unique combination of music genres -- from tango, to waltz, to blues, to punk -- combined with its playful-political lyrics which was the strength that grabbed the attention of music critics and music lovers alike.

After four years of absence, Tika & The Dissidents is ready to release a new album in 2013.
