AGHAST! are a four-piece extreme metal band from London formed after a drinking competition and subsequent visit to the medic tent at Wacken Open Air Festival, in Germany, 2006. Their music is about tapping into the energy that runs through all types of music that makes you grin, pull faces and shake various parts of your body around in a manner that is generally pleasing. The result being music that makes everyone, including them, want to move. Citing influences from drum and bass to hip hop and rock n roll as the basis for their take on the heavier side of metal. With songs on their new e.p already having been described as a cross between At the Gates and Goatwhore via Nevermore they are set to slowly but surely rip their way through the extreme music scene, leaving the listener wanting, if not needing more. As the much celebrated Roots Manuva once said "Big tings Agwan". AGHAST! Have shared bills with: Devin Townsend, Meshuggah, Opeth, Obituary, Waking the Cadaver, Malefice, Sylosis, Abbaden, The Smoking Hearts and many many more. Don't expect lacklustre fret-gazing when (not if.) you see them live, look out for a joyous assault on your eardrums that will utilise every ounce of energy in the building and leave everyone grinning from ear to ear.
EP - LIVE DANGEROUSLY - REVIEWS: (released on March 1st 2012)
"Live Dangerously delivers three tracks of straight-up speed, for those of you who like stuff where guitars shred faster than a Betterware onion slicer and the sound of drummers feet snapping away from their ankles" - 4/6 Thrash Hits - http://www.thrashhits.com/2012/01/ep-aghast-live-dangerously/
"Razor sharp riffs, speed and pummeling is in order on all three songs. The vocals are clear and brutal, accented by production that is better than 90% of the stuff you will listen to this year" - 4/5 Dawn Of The Deaf - http://www.dawnofthedeaf.co.uk/aghast-live-dangerously-ep-review/
"I've been playing this over and over again, and these eleven minutes never seem to get stale. Each of the three has its own character without compromising the overall AGHAST! sound, and I suspect that's the key to their continued appeal" - 4/5 One Metal - http://www.onemetal.com/2012/02/15/aghast-live-dangerously/
"I would personally recommend that you take time to catch every detail that AGHAST! delivers and enjoy the variety of styles in each song. Whether you're an extreme metal fan or not, this EP will certainly feed your curiosity and imagination" - 9/10 - This Is Not A Scene - http://www.thisisnotascene.com/2012/aghast-live-dangerously/
"It's definitely a release that leaves you wanting more, and it's hopefully only a matter of time before the band get around to releasing a brain blending full length" - 4/5 - Punktastic - http://punktastic.com/reviews/aghast-live-dangerously/
"from the cartoonish cover art you might expect this to be something rather silly. It ain't. What we actually have here is slightly cartoonish death metal played at higher velocity than if it were based at the CERN supercollider" - MetalHammer
"The shift from the more groove orientated slower sections, through to mid-paced death metal sections and then into the crazed grind sections (Lock Up springs to mind in these faster sections) is jaw dropping. Aghast are something very special indeed, their technical proficiency first rate with a good ear for writing catchy, memorable extreme metal."
