DESCRIPTION:
Here I have compiled a group of five adjustments and wiring mods to brighten a dark or muddy sounding Humbucker.
Often guitarists complain about the neck pickups being to dark.
This video gives a good range of solutions that should be able to bring you closer to the sound yo want or at least inspire you to experiment.
The first adjustment is to pickup height.
1. Increasing the distance a pickup is away from the strings quite often impoves clarity.
2. Raising the pole pieces can brighten your sound also.
3. Removing the pole pole pieces brightens a pickup quite dramatically.
4. Wiring a humbuckers coils in parallel can reduce bass and increase treble.
5. Installing a capacitor across one coil of a humbucker can enhance highs and change the overall frequency response very dramatically. This is something I have been working on for a while now and even though I conceived this idea there would have to be someone else out there who has done it before.
