The Guitar: Art, Artists and Artisans
Exhibition showing February 12, 2010 - May 09, 2010
National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, Oklahoma City

The guitar is the world's most popular instrument. From its historical roots in Europe, the instrument became popular throughout the American West, evolving into an icon of cowboy music. Often a stunning visual art form, the guitar is the star of this exhibit. Learn about the making of guitars and see nearly 50 examples—including many that are historically significant or guitars that are truly works of art. A highlight of the exhibit is the chandelier installation of Amanda Dunbar's "Precious Rebels." You don't want to miss this sparkle in your eye.

This video excerpt is taken from the panel discussion moderated by curator Don Reeves, the Museum's McCasland Chair of Cowboy Culture. Panelists include Amanda Dunbar, Don Edwards, and Don Cusic. The full panel discussion is available for viewing on DVD at the Dickinson Research Center. Please call and make an appointment to view this DVD.
