The day has finally come ya’ll – One Direction’s Four hit the public officially, and we can’t stop listening to it!
1D’s highly-anticipated fourth studio album dropped on Monday, and though there was a low-quality leak a while back, we’re sure Directioners are thrilled that the real thing is finally here. And despite the fact that we’ve been ROCKING OUT to “Steal My Girl” for months now, we’re so excited to hear the other new sounds from the guys. And that’s why we’re here today, my friends and fellow Directioners – we’re breaking down five songs we absolutely LOVE from One Direction’s Four, in no particular order. Let’s get started!
First, we have “Where Do Broken Hearts Go.” This song is easily one of the standout tracks not only because of its poppy beat, but because of its infectious lyrics, too. Another thing we love about the song is the build up to the chorus. It has that clapping along beat that 1D is known for, and you know what they say – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! And how could you NOT melt when hearing them belt out these lyrics: “Counted all my mistakes and there’s only one/Standing up on a list of the things I’ve done/All the rest of my crimes don’t come close/To the look on your face when I let you go.”
We think we know a few Directioners who’d be happy to help them find a place for that broken heart. Just saying.
Next, is “Stockholm Syndrome” which sounds like it’s straight out of the 80’s – and we FREAKING LOVE IT! The tale of this song obviously reflects the title – ya know, Stockholm Syndrome? When someone is kidnapped and basically finds comfort in the person who took them? People have joked that Belle from Beauty and the Beast suffered from it BUT ANYWAYS, this song is just so good! When you hear it you just want to clap and dance along, amiright?
Coming in at number three, we have the single “Night Changes.” And we can see why they’d pick this song as their latest single. It’s definitely one of the slower songs on the album, and it kind of gives us “Story of My Life” vibes. And this one has a different message behind it. While most of their songs are romance-centric on Four, this one is more a cautionary tale of sorts, with lyrics like: “Going out tonight, changes into something red/Her mother doesn’t like that kind of dress/Reminds her of a missing piece of innocence she lost.” You gotta admit, as the guys of 1D have been getting more mature, so has the sound of their music, and this song is proof.
At number four we have the song that started off all this craziness, and that would be “Fireproof.” When 1D revealed all the details of this new album a couple months ago, they did so by dropping this song and we’re happy to report we like it just as much now as we did then. Again, similar to “Night Changes” this is a more mellow vibe. You’ll nod your head along to the beat, but you’re not going to be dancing like you would with other songs from the band. And we are the only ones who think this song sounds very John Mayer-ish?!
And last but certainly not least – STEAL MY GIRL! How could we NOT include this song?! It’s arguably one of One Direction’s best songs EVER and really sets the tone for the entire album. We are not sick of it yet, and we’ve only fallen in love with it more and more with each listen. What about you??
Alright, so there you have it – five songs we absolutely LOVE from One Direction’s Four album! The whole thing is great, but these are just a few songs that really stuck out to us.
