3 Pups Music are Pantha and Newbie Brad, experimental musicians who either work alone, with each other, or with other artists, using electronic wind instrument, fretless electric guitar, software and other noisemakers. We perform with performance artist and musician Landry Butler whenever we can. The music is usually informed by jazz or electronica but can be as different as rock, noise, ambient or orchestral. "I've had the great pleasure of knowing the Pup-Meisters, however briefly, yet have become an avid fan of their uncommon sound. To me it has become as it were a "Primordial Soup" nourishing my Bohemian soul. The Pups have graciously fueled performances held at the nefarious 427 Chestnut Commons Salons and endearingly become a staple to our Dadaistic diet. Asked to review their latest morsels and tidbits, as I listened to the "Pantha and Newbie Brad" cd it had an almost "Wee Gee Board" effect and it was a very favorable impression (sorry this is obtuse but it came as so): "Abandon all your pretty concepts of what you think music should sound like and cross the threshold into a globe of resonance pure and unequivocal. Now unabashed go into an ancient world where the logical and illogical collide, bend and then flow. Imagine a circle. Where does it begin? Where does it end? Soon one finds oneself soothed by the blitz, as time fades, mind becomes NO MIND. Is it the sound of one hand clapping? Or perhaps the sound of a tree that falls in the wilderness when no one is there to hear? Dimensions become obsolete when form becomes formless. Now I am, now I am not, yet, there it ALL is. Should this music be a color, perhaps amber with strewn shades of violet? Should it be a flower, perhaps a purple rose growing in the nights shadows." A wonderful fact to reflect upon, I thinks. " S. The back 3 Pups catalogue includes Indian-flavoured meditative electronic tabla fields, frantic hyperreal collages, soundscapes and beats, cinematic film noir western guitars, minimal microtonal pluckings, academic abstractions and simply will not promise to at least stay within these parameters. Fascinatingly enough, nothing ever seems out of place with them (except maybe, where it's supposed to) and even the most radical contrasts add to the mystique of the music. This is, because Pantha and Newbie Brad are somehow capable of translating the implicit code of the world around us into artistic structures which seem as alien as they are familiar, emotional and comforting.
