Who is Young Fletcher?

The child of a Christian minister and a devout Muslim, Lamont Fletcher, learned the art of embracing multiple beliefs and experiences at a young age. This Winston-Salem, native has used these experiences to help create music that translates a myriad of thoughts and conveys a spectrum of emotions.

His career began at the tender age of 7, with a rousing performance of "This Little Light of Mine", for his mother. By the age of 10, Lamont had sung at weddings, funerals, banquets, parties, and for the Mayor of Winston-Salem. At 13, Lamont opened for Solonge Knowles at the NAACP Annual Youth Celebration in Greensboro, NC.

But Lamont's talents did not stop there. He added performances with the North Carolina Black Repertory Theater in plays such as "Black Nativity", "Brother Don't Cope", and the hit play "Mahalia Jackson," to his resume. He also starred in "Beauty and the Beast", and "God's Army" at the University of North Carolina, as well as many other productions in various theater companies.

During an odyssey around the country, Lamont's ability to make his audience scream, cry, and shout, all at the young age of 16, earned him the nickname "Power House." He then went on to place in the top 100, out of 150,000 people that made it through the first round of competitions, on the hit show American Idol. All of this hard work culminated in winining the best male soul, best male vocals, and overall R&B categories of the Mega Voices Barrino Competition, 2005.

The year 2006 proved to be just as successful as he sang backup for recording artist Faith Evans, and was asked to sing the National Anthem for the NBA Chicago Bulls' basketball game that was sponsored by the National Breast Cancer Association. Lamont also had the opportunity to tour and perform, during halftime, with the And-1 basketball team during their stint in North Carolina.

Since then Young Fletcher has opened for Super Jams, Summer Jams, and performed with many of today's top recording artists including T.I., Paul Wall, Three 6 Mafia, J. Holiday, Kesha Cole, Monica, Young Joc, Ludacris, Fantasia Barrino, Trey Songz and many more.

With his smooth and silky vocals and his phenomenal song writing abilities, Young Fletcher has spent a lifetime evolving into a musical powerhouse.
