"Équilibre," a debut full-length release from Parametric artist S.H.I.Z.U.K.A, brings us an aptly titled album, fulfilling expectations and anticipation Ive had since I first heard the artist in the great "qfg : A Compilation."

"Équilibre" is a poised, languorous flow of thick rhythms and richly textured beats. It took me a few listens to truly appreciate this releaseits of such a consistent quality and mood that no song immediately stood outthe sound palette used is selective and stylized, maintaining a sort of cavernous, hypnotic feel in the deep tones, grainy filters, and plaintive analogical melodies.

S.H.I.Z.U.K.A and similar artists are strongly carving their way into this subgenre of a sort of Gridlockian hesitation of breakbeats and fluid atmospherics. In some sense this is both the strength and weakness of such releasesthere is a lack of compositional originality in the niche that requires a strong sense of style and mood in addition to skill to mark such works as outstanding. "Équilibre" for me achieves this outstanding statusa compelling flow, percussions blended adroitly with textures and melodic pieces to create an emotive groove.

Particular tracks to be savoured include the crunchy, pulsating explorations of "Hikari," the tribal echoes of "Desolation," and the endlessly mutating drones of "Fuite."

Quand on croise Anthony, on voit un jeune homme tranquille, voire timide et réservé, avec sa sacoche sur l'épaule cachant un laptop rempli de ses compositions. "Equilibre" est comme cet ordinateur portable : richement garni ! "Equilibre" est comme son géniteur, discret et subtil, timide, mais révélant une personnalité profonde. 13 titres, souvent assez courts et c'est mon seul regret , dévoilant une electronica fine, entrecoupée d'expérimentation et de bruitisme, mélangeant délicatesse électronique et poésie sonore en un album d'une homogénéité à l'efficacité redoutable ! Découvert par le biais de compilations dont celle du label Parametric ("QFG") ce projet présente déjà une maturité certaine, ce qui laisse présager un avenir radieux. Je ne peux que vous conseiller de prêter une oreille attentive à ce disque qui, comme toutes les productions de Parametric, dévoile une qualité exemplaire ! En bonus, cet album propose des remixes signés Flint Glass, OTX et Dither (CD-Rom) ! Un magnifique premier album, un disque à ne pas rater et à savourer pleinement ! Et dire que je l'ai déjà raté deux fois en live.
