Zog Bogbean got it's start in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Marcy Open Elementary school where as a boy, John Wozniak was inspired by his days on the Marcy playground. Coincidentally naming the album "From The Marcy Playground". John, along with Scott Fraser, and the infamous Sherry Fraser (his girlfriend at the time, and the subject of the appropriately titled "Sherry Fraser" on the self titled Marcy Playground CD), set out to record Zog Bogbean around 1990. They found that the recording process was very expensive and had to improvise a little.ok. alot! The had a variety of recording venues such as, the Fraser's living room, John's living room, and bedroom. They even used a closet! John and Sherry had this system of writing vocals involving mouthing words and syllables over the music, and then "fitting" the lyrics over those sounds. The album is pretty impressive seeing as how it was recorded on a Tascam 688. John had some excellent mics that helped the process a great deal. As well as some decent processing equipment. Only about 500-1000 copies were made of the CD, making it nearly impossible to find today. It was this album that he used as an original demo and landed a deal with EMI.
