"Young Hot", like many other seventh graders in the rough streets of West Philadelphia was a product of his environment. Living in an environment, which included drugs and violence on a regular basis, the latter being a direct correlation of the former, he sought to make the best of his given situation. While watching his older brother rehearse his rap lyrics in the basement of the Chancellor Street row-home which they shared; the energetic, attention thriving youth thought to test his own abilities with his peers at Sayre Middle School. Testing the waters, "Young Hot" joined his classmates in a Cypher in the back of an unruly classroom, and was well received, hence the birth of superstardom. As a freshman at West Philly High School, the moniker "Young Hot" was given to him as the lively youth ripped through competition in rap battles throughout the halls, lunchrooms, and stairwells within the building. Everyday was an adventure as Young Hot engaged in battles regularly throughout his high school tenure, honing his skills as a lyricist, and developing the notion that this talent could some day pay the bills. Influenced early by the likes of DMX, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., and Philly artist such as Beanie Segal, and Major Figgas, Young Hot would soon take his craft seriously, and set out to make his dreams a reality. Over 300+ battles later Young Hot would graduate from High School and embark on a journey to the top of the underground circuit in and around the Philadelphia area. With intentions on establishing a name for himself, Young Hot would put the rubber to the road and flood the city with his abilities, thus force feeding the underground world his talent. Hot would gain major acclaim by his unprecedented triumph at the Philly Fight Club in early 2006. Having already reached the West Philly crowd, this was a defining occasion as many in attendance were highly regarded figures from other parts of town, which would only enhance Young Hot's buzz. With the word out regarding this young, fiery artist's sudden rise onto the scene of the underground Hip Hop world, it was in Hot's best interest to take full advantage of the publicity. With the self released debut of his mixtape "It's Getting Hot Out" hosted and mixed by Sneaker Villa's DJ No Phrillz, Young Hot reinforced what all the hype was about. This too was followed up by "Western Union", and later "Center of Attention" mixed and hosted by NYC DJ L.R.M. From that point on, it was smooth sailing for Young Hot who in 2006 alone was showcased on over 30 DVDs including I'm Not A Rappa volumes1 through 4, Get Focused, O.G. Did It, HOODVIDS, and From the Muscle to name a few. Young Hot was also featured on over 40 mixtapes for either DJ's or in a collaborative effort with artist throughout the city. Young Hot performed with some of the top hip hop artist in Philly such as Reed Dollaz, Freeway, Gille Da Kid, and Cyssero for example. He would engage in performances not to promote himself, but to do what he loved, which was expressing his inner thoughts and feelings through his lyrics, and moving the crowd. Young Hot also gained cyberspace fame when he launched his Myspace page in May of 06. From inception of his Music page until the end of the year, Young Hot has garnered nearly 10,000 friends, nearly 5,000 comments, and an astonishing 350,000 plays of his music as an independent, non-managed artist. An average of nearly 1,400 plays per day. His efforts have made him 1 in Pennsylvania in the Rap category, and 2 in Pennsylvania in the Hip Hop category for unsigned artist. On youtube, a site where amateur videos are posted by various users, clips of Young Hot have compiled more than 650,000 views and counting. Young Hot has opened the floodgates for industry execs with his unique delivery, and unadulterated style. Humility precedes Young Hot as he is one of the more conscientious artist of his age, thinking things through and establishing a plan of action. Exemplifying the title independent artist, there is little to nothing that Young Hot is not directly involved in with regard to his rap career. He has a work ethic leaving little left to be desired of him, as he handles business like that of a man well beyond his raw age of 19.
