DESCRIPTION:
I was out on a hike and suddenly heard a weird sound, which turned out to be a young fox which was lying next to the trail. It was too young and weak to survive on its own. After spending 30 minutes looking for the parents, I called the local animal rescue (Dierenambulance Nederrijn) for advice.

They came in to have a look, and found three more cubs in the rhododendron nearby. All of them had crawled out of the den, and they were underfed and cold. The mother was probably dead, so the hungry cubs tried to find their own food.

The rescue team took the cubs to a specialised shelter, where they'll be raised until they're strong enough to be released back into the wild. Since they were only 2-3 weeks old when I found them, they currently get bottle-fed. Once they eat solids, they go to an outside enclosure, where they'll learn everything wild foxes need to know.
