Bear Release, Lake Tahoe Black Bears, two young cubs - Oct. 21, 2013 6:51 pm - Video

DESCRIPTION:
"Bear Aversion Conditioning"... Release of two cubs, back into the wild.
Mom and two cubs were captured in North Lake Tahoe. Cubs released in this video, using bear aversion conditioning, with Karelian Bear Dogs. Both cubs ran straight up a tree, to avoid the dogs, and we "humans"... The dogs were then called back in, and the mother Bear was released, after she knew her cubs were safely up a tree. She ran a bit further, and promptly ran up a nearby tree as well.
The dogs are not released until the cubs are safely up the tree...
With older, bigger bears, the dogs are released shortly after the bear leaves the trap, so the "Bear Aversion Conditioning" is a little more intense.
