Yesterday's News was the brainchild of songwriter/guitarist Jamie Green and drummer/singer Mike Koehler. Formed in 2000, the band got its introduction to the pub-rock circuit in a greasy Fells Point joint called Wyatt's Saloon in Baltimore, Maryland, playing a mixed set of covers and originals. Along the way, keyboard virtuoso/gregarious growler Eddie Lehwald joined and added a unique flavor to the group. The lineup was finalized in the fall of 2006, when bassist Angelo Christino joined the band, adding the final piece to what has become an unstopable group.

Having hit the snooze alarm at the dawn of a new millennium, Yesterday's News was poised to continue sleeping through the musical influence of their mainstream and indie contemporaries. The members of the band began drawing primarily from pioneering artists and groups of the 1960s and 70s, and set out to return the three-part harmony and rock to a nearly-extinct style of rock music that had over time been altered and watered-down, tainted with gratuitous pop-punk riffs, crybaby lyricists, and overproduced nonsense.

In 2003, Yesterday's News released their self-titled debut which features 11 tracks of unadulterated rock and roll, highlighting the emerging musicianship of each member of the group. In the summer of 2005 and winter of 2006, Yesterday's News again headed back into the studio, this time recording in Woodstock, NY at the home and studio of the living legend himself, Levon Helm of The Band. The songs featured on this site highlight the palimpsest of styles that color the developing sound of the group, ranging from soul, maximum r&b, country and folk rock, and delving into the realms of arena-rock, punk, post-punk and junk-shop glam. The Album, 'The North Side Hotel' will be relaesed on March 31st, over two years after the first recordings were done.

The band continues to hone their sound and strives to expand their audience by playing out frequently in and around the Baltimore/DC/VA area. Whether they're cranking out a seamless 45-minute set at a club or smoke-machining and jukeboxing over the course of their notorious 5 hour bar shows, Yesterdays News turns out a sonic mosaic of rock that sounds like the result of Nick Lowe producing a back-alley rumble between Blue Öyster Cult, Bruce Springsteen, and David Bowie, with Sam Cooke doing the blow-by-blow throughout the bout.
